<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Individuals with type 2 diabetes have increased risk of fragility fractures. It’s not completely clear by which mechanism type 2 diabetes increases skeletal fragility. A combination of factors, including an increased risk of falling (contributed by complications of the disease) and impaired bone quality apparently leads to a greater fracture risk. Some cl asses of drug therapy for type 2 diabetes may also increase fracture risk by their own mechanism of action.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>сахарный диабет 2 типа</kwd><kwd>риск переломов</kwd><kwd>лекарственные препараты</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>diabetes mellitus type 2</kwd><kwd>fracture risk</kwd><kwd>drug therapy</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Achemlal L, Tellal S, Rkiouak F, Nouijai A, Bezza A, Derouiche EM, et al.
