<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>One of the complications of diabetes in humans is inadequate bone formation resulting in osteopenia and slow consolidation of fractures. The basis of these pathological processes is a disruption of the regeneration of bone tissue in insulin deficiency and hyperglycemia, the mechanisms of which are highlighted in this mini-review. The published data indicate the need for careful monitoring of blood glucose levels and adequate replacement therapy for the prevention of skeletal complications of diabetes.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>сахарный диабет</kwd><kwd>переломы</kwd><kwd>остеопороз</kwd><kwd>остеопротегерин</kwd><kwd>витамин D</kwd><kwd>инсулин</kwd><kwd>гипергликемия</kwd><kwd>костная резорбция</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>RANK/RANKL</kwd><kwd>diabetes</kwd><kwd>fractures</kwd><kwd>osteoporosis</kwd><kwd>RANK/RANKL</kwd><kwd>osteoprotegerin</kwd><kwd>vitamin D</kwd><kwd>insulin</kwd><kwd>hyperglycemia</kwd><kwd>bone resorption</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Bruhn-Olszewska B., Korzon-Burakowska A., Gabig-Cimińska M. et al.
